I just joined a church called New Life Christian Center in Turlock, CA. Last Sunday was my first time going to this church, and I really enjoyed it.

That's excellent. I will pray that God will touch your life in a very special way.

I am not sure where to attend church I have always attended a baptist church and visited 2. One was like nothing I am use to and the other was similar to my old home church but the distance is a factor.

Was it different in a good way or did you not like it at all? I had to look around a little bit before I found a church I really like. Some questions I asked myself after attending the service was: Did I like the music? Did I like the message the pastor gave? How was the atmosphere (casual or formal)? Were there people there my age? Was it boring? Is it too far? How can I get involved in the church? Did I feel like I belonged/fit in there? Do I want to go back? What did I like? What did I not like?
I found these questions helpful when I was looking for a church to join. Some of the churches I attended I liked the pastor and the people, but it was an overall boring service. Also, something that is important to me is getting involved in the church family. I hope this helped at least a little bit.

I have recently bought a book that was recommended to us by one of our pastors: "Stop Dating the Church: Fall in Love With the Family of God, by Joshua Harris.
Chapter 5 is entitled, "Choosing Your Church: Ten Things That Matter Most"
I do believe that when it comes to finding a church for us, we need to be able to answer these 1- questions:
1. Is this a church where God's Word is faithfully taught?
2. Is this a church where sound doctrine matters?
3. Is this a church in which the gospel is cherished and clearly proclaimed?
4. Is this a church committed to reaching non-Christians with the gospel?
5. Is this a church whose leaders are characterized by humility and integrity?
6. Is this a church where people strive to live by God's Word?
7. Is this a church where I can find and cultivate Godly relationships?
8. Is this a church where members are challenged to serve?
9. Is this a church that is willing to kick me out?
10. Is this a church I'm willing to join "as is" with enthusiasm and faith in God?
